Welcome!

I was born in Mahnomen, Minnesota, and moved to Cook County in the early 70s as an infant. I grew up playing in the majesty of the north woods. With my early influences being a grandfather, a legendary recycler and tinkerer, a carpenter dad, and a mom who scheduled us craft days as kids, art was always around.

I’ve worked in construction for years so it was a natural progression to start with woodworking, whittling wizards, carving walking sticks, and more.

After watching Bob Ross for a long time, I realized he could do it so easily (really!). In the Fall of 2021, I ordered acrylic paints and went on vacation. When I got back, I dove in.

That same carpenter dad I mentioned was also a guitarist. Along with numerous brothers and cousins, family reunions were full of sing-alongs. Luckily for me, that meant music was also always around.

In the last couple of years, I’ve merged those passions to start building custom guitars, a newer way of creating art for me.

I prioritize using recycled, reclaimed, and secondhand materials in my work. By supporting Randy Spry Art, you're also diverting materials from landfills.

Being an artist has changed the way I see the world. I hope to pass it along.
